Recently I have been into lighter coverage foundations and face products. I personally don’t like the heavy cakey look and feeling that full coverage foundations give me. I recently took home a sample of the Bobbi Brown Nude Tinted Moisturizer; here are my thoughts on it.

I have tested this tinted moisturizer out three different ways: with a sponge, a brush and my hands. The first time I tried this, I was just messing around with it to get a feel for it. I used my hands on one side of my face and a brush on the other. The side of my face I applied with my hands looked a lot better than the side I used the brush on. The brush made it very streaky, patchy and brought up dry spots on my face I didn’t know were there.
The second time I tried the tinted moisturizer was before work one afternoon. I applied it with a sponge and shockingly it went on with a lot more coverage than I had expected. After finishing my makeup, I absolutely hated how my skin looked. It looked too dry and not skin like. Because I have oily skin, my natural oils always come through and give me more of a dewy look, which I really like. When I looked at my skin during and after I got home from work, I didn’t notice much of my natural oils come through which I didn’t like.
The third time I tried this out was on a school day. I applied it with my hands, but went over it with a sponge to get a more flawless finish. I really liked how my skin looked when I applied the tinted moisturizer this way. It looked natural and wasn’t heavy or cakey looking. My makeup looked nice throughout the entire day.
In total I’ve worn this four times now. The fourth time was at work, I applied it with my hands and went over with the sponge because that’s the best application method I have found. At first my makeup looked nice, but towards the end of the day it looked awful. The product didn’t apply on my nose nicely. I didn’t touch my face much at work, but there were large spots on my face that the product had completely come off from. I also noticed that I had new breakouts, which I’m assuming are from the product because it was the only new product I had been using. This also dried my skin out because the next day when I was getting ready, my nose was all flakey and overall my skin didn’t look good.
I really wanted to like this product, but I don’t think it is for me. I really liked the coverage once I found the best way to apply this, but other than that it was a flop for me. It didn’t stay on, it broke me out and it dried out my skin. That’s not what I want from my face products. Personally I wouldn’t recommend this, but if you are interested, go and pick up a sample and see how your skin reacts to it before buying a full size.
